Meet Attorney Caryl Shortridge
Caryl J. Shortridge, Esq. has been in practice for 30 years and practices in the Madison and Janesville and surrounding areas through her firm, Shortridge Legal Services, LLC. She has clients all around southern Wisconsin including Richland Center, Lancaster, and Platteville, DeForest, and Sun Prairie to name a few locations.
Education
Ms. Shortridge is a 1988 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School, cum laude, and the UW Graduate School of Business Master of Accountancy in Taxation program.
Specialties
Ms. Shortridge speaks frequently on advanced estate planning and tax topics including: Distribution Planning for IRA Benefits, Substantiating Gifts to Charities, Benefitting From Private Annuities, Charitable Trusts, Family Limited Partnerships, and Business Succession Planning.
She has authored several articles, including:

Ms. Shortridge is also an active member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, recently on the Board of Governors, and past chair of the Gender Equity Committee and past member of the Professionalism Committee.
She is also a member of the American and Illinois Bars, involved in the Tax, Trust, and Real Probate and Property sections; the Legal Association for Women, the Madison Estate Plan Council, the National Planned Giving Council – Madison Chapter, and a past member of Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (active member from 2006 through December, 2015) participating on both the Tax Special Interest Group and the Trust Special Interest Group during membership years.
