Special Needs Trusts
Special Needs Trusts (SNTs) can be of several forms: trusts that receive and hold property owned by the disabled individual (such as personal injury proceeds from a personal injury claim) or trusts that receive and hold money received from a third party.
Both of these types of trusts are intended to supplement the care and support of the individual without disqualifying the beneficiary for public assistance. A Special Needs Trust (SNT) can be a free standing trust agreement or be created through your Will upon your death.
